It’s easy to blog when the people you work with are never around
A favorite library regular came in today.
Male Patron is a 30-something (Maybe late 20′s. Probably late 20′s. 30-something sounds more pathetic though, so I’m sticking with it.) McDonald’s employee who aspires to be a great graphic novelist. In order to achieve his goal he prints out pictures of Dragon Ball Z and Transformers characters to recreate. Today he printed out the pictures below. (PS: I’m clearly bad at patron confidentiality,because that may or may not be how I roll.) Also, to be superficial he’s greasy and ugly.
While at first glance I’m unsure of his current ability to draw/tell a story, but if it somehow combines Transformers and Dragonball Z, then maybe he, too, is more than meets the eye.
(Did you get that? It’s a transformer’s joke. I was going to tie in a catch phrase from Dragonball Z too, but I couldn’t think of anything that sounded clever.)

Last night a woman wanted me to find for her 14-year-old daughter a book without ANY SWEARING AT ALL. I was tempted to give her a picture book, but had to settle with warning her that in no way could I vouch for every word in any book, and steered her toward the teen Christian Fic, but she didn’t want that either. I gave her some historical fic and fantasy b/c I figured archaic and made up swearing doesn’t count, right? sigh. Stoopid patrons.

Jackie, your comment just made me dumber. No more nerd talk from you. When you have a bitter and funny story to share then you may post here. Until that time, get back to putting books on shelves and cleaning up homeless people pee or whatever you librarians do.

Most library people would go to the end of the world to keep the FBI out of patron records. You just go ahead and post their stuff online. I love it! Keep up the good work!

Jackie, your bitterness knows no bounds…. It’s just that your story sucked. If I didn’t tell you, maybe a stranger would, and then your feelings would be hurt. We don’t want that now, do we? I’m just being a good friend.
